DON'T JUST SAY 'I LOVE YOU'

When am I going to tell her I love her? 

How soon is too soon? 

What happens if I wait too long? 

We long to express how we feel about the people in our lives — especially our boyfriend or girlfriend. But don’t settle for words instead of actions because words are cheap. 

We don’t need to fear expressing our love for one another. But too often young guys and girls will behave selfishly then say, “I love you,” expecting those three words to fix everything. They won’t. 

Love is more than an emotion. Love is a verb. It’s something we do, not just something we say. 

If you’re not thinking about how you’re going to love your boyfriend or girlfriend, don’t tell them that you love them. If you do love your boyfriend or girlfriend, consider how you can help them become the man or woman God is calling them to be. 

Spend time thinking about their future. Think about their relationship with Jesus. Think about their habits. Think about their family and their future family. Are you making it easier or harder for them to follow Jesus? Are you helping or hindering them as they pursue the dreams God has placed in their heart? Is your love changing them for the better?

Don’t just say “I love you.” Use your life, your thoughts, and your time to love and serve the people in your life. Then, let your words confirm what your actions have already shown.

Wash their car. 

Find out their favorite candy and bring it to them.

Tell them what you love about their personality. 

Ask how their day was and listen to what they say.
