WHY IS SEX A BIG DEAL?

God created sex and pleasure. Think about that: Sex was God’s idea. 

God created the human body, every part of it, and He loved what He created. And like a good Father, God didn’t leave us alone to figure things out. He gave us instructions and guidance and filled us with purpose. 

You’re not just a physical body. You are a soul. You have a body, but you also have thoughts, feelings, dreams, and desires. When we are careless with our sexuality, we choose to do what feels good physically even if it hurts our soul. 

Sex affects every bit of us, not just our bodies. That’s why God designed sex for marriage. Something so sacred, so intimate is to be reserved for a covenant relationship where two people are 100% committed to each other. 

In marriage, a man and woman become one. Their lives are connected, and sex is a celebration of that unity. Outside of marriage, sex is an emotional exchange the relationship is not designed to sustain.  

Sex is like a fire. Fire is powerful. In the right context, for example in a fireplace, fire is purposeful and enjoyable. It warms the house. But that same fire, outside its designated place, will burn the house down. Sex, like fire, has the power to do more harm than we realize when we strike the match.  

If you’ve already had sex, you know the hurt and insecurity that can come from sharing yourself fully with someone you’re not married to. But there’s good news. You get a fresh start today. Make the decision to trust God with your sexuality, and let that one good decision launch you into another one and another one.
