SET THE VIBE

Vibes matter.

Have you ever been to a party or restaurant you were stoked about, only to leave disappointed? I don’t know about you, but a disappointing environment often seems to come down to the vibes.

For example, the food was great, but the restaurant was so dark I couldn’t see. And they didn’t play any music, so everyone had to whisper to avoid another table joining the conversation.

Or the party was poppin’, and everyone was there, but the music was so loud I couldn’t hear, and the only place to sit was in the middle of the damp yard when I wore my new summer shorts. Um, no thank you.

On the flip side, you can go to a budget birthday party where you barely know anyone, and if the playlist is solid and the seating is perfect for conversation, that thing is a hit!

Whether it’s party planning, restaurant eating, or summer hanging, vibes matter. 

We all have big plans for the summer. But if you aren’t thinking about how you want to fill that space, you might be headed back to school or work pretty disappointed. Creating the right vibes requires intentionality and thoughtfulness. 

So for the next few weeks, ask God to “set the vibes” for your summer. Psalm 16 says that in His Presence there is fullness of joy! God not only has a plan for how your summer could go, He says His plan will fill us with joy that lasts.

• Pray: “God, I want this summer to be full. I believe that you do, too. Matter of fact, I believe a full life can only come from you. Will you use this summer to show me what that means?”


• Based on past experience, what is going to try to pull you away from God this summer? Ask God to help you stay focused and intentional as you let Him set the vibe for your summer.
