GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE

Have you ever looked around and thought, What’s the point? What am I doing here? Where am I going? Why should I care?

It is easy to lose sight of what matters. Every Christian has a God-given purpose, and knowing our purpose allows us to keep moving forward when life gets foggy. 

What do you mean God-given purpose?

If you’ve given your life to Jesus, then you are a new creation. The old you is gone. You’ve been given a new life with Jesus! And that life is filled with purpose. 

We don’t have to wonder why we’re here. We’re here to enjoy God and bring Him glory. We don’t have to wonder what we’re supposed to do or if we’re investing in things that matter. God has made that clear as well. We’ve been given the responsibility of inviting others into relationship with Him. 

2 Corinthians 5 says God has given us the task of reconciling people to Him. When Jesus returned to heaven, He told us to pick up where He left off (Acts 1:8). We have experienced God’s goodness, and we’ve received His Spirit. Now, it’s our job to be Jesus’ ambassadors in the world and continue spreading the Gospel. 

God has entrusted us with the message of His love, how He feels about us, who Jesus is, and what He has done for us.

• Your purpose is not the same thing as your job or career. As Christians, we bring the Spirit of God everywhere we go. How can you embrace your God-given purpose of reconciling others to Him as you go about your day today?


• Our new lives look different from our old lives. When we’re being led by the Holy Spirit, our lives will show it in specific ways. Read Galatians 5:22-23. How is your life showing the fruit of the Spirit?
