Growing in Truth – For Parents

DAY 2 OF 7

Read John 18:37

Think

Jesus was on trial for claiming to be a king, and Pilate was the Roman governor with the power to sentence Him to death if found guilty. Instead of begging for Pilate to save his life, Jesus spoke truth. He calmly shared His purpose for coming to the world. Can you imagine if we were to react the same way to the accusations of others?

Because of Jesus’ quiet strength and obvious commitment to His calling, Pilate quickly realized that Jesus was innocent. And even though Pilate did not fully understand that Jesus’s destiny was to be an eternal heavenly king, not just an earthly one, the truth came shining through. When was the last time you spent time focusing on your heavenly purpose, and boldly sharing it with others?

Talk

Ask yourself: When did you discover that your life had a bigger purpose?

Ask a child: What do you think you will be like when you are grown up?

Discuss together: Why is it important to understand who you are and who you are becoming in Christ?

Pray

Heavenly Father, you were born to be a king. Thank you for inviting me into your family and giving me a purpose for my life. Help me always remember who I am in you and try to grow every day a little bit more into who I am becoming. Amen.
