Teach, Think, Live
You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
Titus 2:1 (ESV)
Declining moral values is widespread today. This was also the case in Crete when Paul sent Titus to restore order by setting clear guidelines on how to be temperate, worthy of self-respect, and sound in faith, love and endurance.
Aren’t these the same values we need today? Transformation starts with sound doctrine.
Teach: Titus’ clear teaching is for all of us, whether older men and women, younger men and women or in the workplace. How should we think and live, so that in every way the teaching about God our Saviour is made attractive?
Encourage: Let’s encourage ourselves and those we teach on how to live with self-control, integrity, reverence and sound speech.
Set a good example: All should do this so that “no one will malign the word of God.”
Who is to teach, encourage and set a good example? All of us! Before we do so, let’s be armed with sound bible-based doctrine.
Prayer
Father God help me to be an obedient student and be grounded in sound doctrine so that I can teach, encourage and set a good example. Let the manner of my life be worthy of the gospel of Christ. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
