To Rebuke and Speak the Truth
This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply so that they will be sound in the faith and pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.
Titus 1:13-14 (ESV)
Paul’s instruction to Titus shows that developing a doctrinally sound church has always been a challenge, even till today. Titus was left in Crete to put the church in order.
It is easier to remain silent or only say positive comments. Yet Paul instructs Titus to refute false teachers and to rebuke rebellious people who are full of meaningless talk and deception. They come to church claiming to know God, but by their actions they deny Him.
Prayer
Abba Father, show us how to rebuke in love so that Your people may return to the Truth. Thank You that You discipline those You love so that we may be sound in our faith to receive Your approval. Thank You, Lord, for keeping us in Your path of righteousness. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
