Through the Bible: Ephesians

DAY 1 OF 3

Saved and Live A New Life in Christ

But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5

Paul started this book by reminding the Ephesians that they were saved, renewed and blessed with the Spirit, united by the love and grace of God. Have you ever imagined life without Christ? We would be ‘dead in transgressions’! If we are guided and motivated by expectations of the world alone, we would easily become selfish, disappointed, weary and lost. Because of Jesus dying for us on the cross to redeem us from sins, we are now able to have everlasting hope with Him as the anchor in our lives. We now live victoriously in Jesus, in His truth and love, no longer bound by the rules of the world.

Prayer

Father God, we are grateful for all that You’ve done for us. Let us see our weaknesses and transgressions and at the same time, redeem and save us from our ‘old’ selves. Help us to live a new life that is pleasing to You, to help expand Your Kingdom on earth, just like how Paul and the disciples did, continuing with the work of Jesus. This is our response to Your love, O God. Equip and enable us, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
