I Am Who Jesus Says I AmSample

I Am Who Jesus Says I Am

DAY 2 OF 3

Read Together

When people looked at Matthew, they said, “He’s just a tax collector and a sinner.” They thought they knew all about Matthew: he took more money than he should, could not be trusted, and that was the end of the story.

But Jesus looked at Matthew and saw more. He said something different: “Follow me.”

Matthew bravely left his old life behind and followed Jesus. Jesus showed Matthew who God made him to be. He wasn’t just a tax collector—he was a man Jesus trusted to share the God’s Good News with the world.

People may look at you and think they know all about you, too. But Jesus looks at you and sees more. He says, “Follow me.” Trust Him. Follow Him. Let Him show you who He made you to be.

Watch Together

Talk Together

  • What are some things people say about who you are?
  • Which things do you think Jesus would agree with, and which ones do you think He wouldn’t agree with?
  • What do you think you can learn about yourself by following Jesus?

Focus Together

Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.

  • Breath in deeply and say, “Jesus says …”
  • Exhale slowly and say, “I am ___.” Fill in the blank with something Jesus says about you.
  • Repeat as often as you like. Fill in the blank with the same words, or choose other things Jesus says about you. Examples: loved, amazing, wonderful, strong, brave, accepted, known, seen, chosen, generous, etc.

Study Together

Read today's Bible story as a family. Talk about how it can help you remember this truth: I am who Jesus says I am.
