Making Jesus King

DAY 1 OF 5

Having a king can be great, but it can also be really terrible. If the king rules with a self-centered focus and doesn’t have good intentions for his people, it will be tough to follow him. But on the other hand, if a king is kind and has everyone’s best interests at heart, he will be a king worth following. The person or thing that we choose to follow, the “king” of our life, dictates everything we do. Everyone has a king in their life. It’s the thing that takes up our time and influences us the most, the thing we think we could never live without. Have you ever thought about what is king over your life? For people who have grown up in church or followed Jesus for a long time, the immediate answer might be “God.” But, take a closer look. Who influences all of your actions? Who do you follow? We hope that Jesus will be the one we all follow, but other things often get in the way. This week, we want to talk about what it looks like to take everything else off the throne and put Jesus where he belongs.

Challenge: Pray this prayer today: “God, speak to me. I’m ready to listen.” Continue to pray this same prayer as you read this plan each day. Get ready to hear from God this week and approach this plan with an open heart and mind! He is ready to speak to you!
