Think of a time that you received some good news. How did you feel? What did you say? What did you do, or how did you celebrate? Good news is worth celebrating!
Christmas is all about celebrating good news. Mary received some good news that she was going to have a baby. She didn’t get a text message or a phone call. Her good news was delivered by some mysterious messengers. Angels!
An angel appeared to Mary to bring her some good news, “God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a Son and call His name Jesus.”
The mysterious messengers visited Joseph in a dream with good news to tell him that Mary would have a baby. They would name Him Jesus—‘God saves’—because He will save His people from their sins. And that’s exactly what happened! The mystery of God sending His one and only Son to save us from our sins is GOOD NEWS!
And when Jesus was born, the angel messengers brought the good news to some shepherds in a field nearby. They were terrified! Imagine what seeing those angels would have been like for those shepherds! The angels told them not to be afraid, and they had good news. Jesus was born!

Through the mysteries of the messengers, the manger, and the star, we discover that Christmas is not just about gifts. It’s about the birth of Jesus, that God is with us, and Christmas is a time to worship Him.
