A Christmas Mystery

DAY 2 OF 15

The Bible is jam-packed full of stories about God, His people, and us! Many thousands of years ago, people didn’t have books to read about God’s stories. The stories weren’t read. They were spoken and passed from person to person.

It’s fun to tell stories about things that took place in the past, but can you imagine what it would be like to tell a story about the future? It is a story about things that haven’t happened yet but will because when God says something is going to happen, it always does.

In the Old Testament, there is a collection of books by prophets. The prophets were God’s messengers. One particular book, called Isaiah, has a lot of stories about the future. They talk about a Saviour and a King. God gave Isaiah a message about something that would take place long in the future.

Hundreds of years later, another mysterious messenger from God visited a woman named Mary. The angel Gabriel told Mary she would have a baby and call Him Jesus. Jesus was always God’s plan. The prophets wrote about the coming King Jesus in the books of Isaiah, Psalms, Daniel, and many other Old Testament books hundreds of years before Jesus was born. The mystery of Christmas is Jesus, God revealed. This is good news that leads us to worship Him.

About this Plan

A Christmas Mystery

Through the mysteries of the messengers, the manger, and the star, we discover that Christmas is not just about gifts. It’s about the birth of Jesus, that God is with us, and Christmas is a time to worship Him.
