Messiah For You

Dag 2 van 5

## Lifting weights Have you ever picked up something so heavy that you had to put all of your weight into carrying it? If it was really heavy, did you need someone else to help you carry it? Sometimes we aren’t holding things physically, but internally. The weight of not getting the part you wanted in the school play. The weight of a divorce in your family. These are burdens we carry because they take up space in our mind and in our heart. Jesus knew this feeling all too well. He knew what it felt like to suffer and face hardship. He was fully human, so he faced the same challenges we face, and felt the emotions we feel. But because he is fully God, he conquered it all. Isaiah described it like this: “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” Jesus suffered so we didn’t have to. God sent him to Earth to carry our burdens and join with us in our sufferings. Isaiah said, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” That’s an incredible sacrifice! As you carry the weight of different situations in your life, remember that you don’t have to carry it alone. Give your burden to Jesus – write it down or say it out loud as you talk to Him. He is the one who sustains us and wants to carry our burdens, and he is the only one strong enough to carry it all. That’s why he said, ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. Doing life with Jesus is filled with good news. Don’t miss tomorrow’s devotional to find the best news ever.
