Great Adventurers (Week 3)Sample

Day One - Set Apart Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible. This week, we will be looking at the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, but we will call them Rack, Shack and Benny. We will see how they were bold and how God has 'Set them Apart' from all the people around them. READ: 'The Fiery Furnace ' in the Beginners Bible (Pages 247-251) or in Daniel 3. King Nebuchadnezzar's army had defeated the Israelites, and now he was their ruler. He built a big statue out of gold. He then made a bad rule - ' When the music plays, everyone must bow down and worship the statue. Those who disobey will be thrown into the fiery furnace!' When the music began to play, everyone did as King Nebuchanezzar had asked of them. They fell down and started to worship the statue. But Rack, Shack, and Benny loved God, and they did not want to worship the King's statue, so they said NO! - This made the King very angry! God has a plan for each of us, He knows what this plan is. He will help us to stick to the plan! When we choose to live our lives how God wants us to, we become the people God wants us to be. Loving God, knowing God, and what God wants for us is important! Just like our three Great Adventurers, God has 'Set us Apart' to follow Him, living our lives to please God not to fit in with the crowd. ASK: How can you keep following God? Have a chat with your grownups and think of some creative ways and things to do to help you keep following God? Don't forget to ask your grownups to send us photos of your ideas on Facebook and Instagram. REMEMBER: 'Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!"' (Matthew 19:26) SAY: I'm an adventurer, I am bold, I am strong with the word of the Lord, I will follow wherever you lead. I won't stop, I've been set free. In Jesus name, Amen!
