Self-confidence Self-confidence is the next 'self' we must bring to The Cross and nail to The Cross. As seemingly harmless as self-confidence is, it can be very destructive to spiritual life. Self-confidence can easily take you to a place where you act without God's help or do things in your strength. God wants us to rise up and to face life's issues in God-confidence not self- confidence. And David models God's heart about God confidence to us in 1 Sam.17:37 "The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!" David's boast was not rooted in his ability to fight wild animals or provide covering for his sheep. David's boast was rooted in God who ultimately gave him victory and that is God-confidence. Root your self-confidence in God and make it God-confidence. Self-confidence by itself can hinder the flow of the power of resurrection in our lives. We therefore must take self-confidence to The Cross and nail it to The Cross. As we do this daily, we will grow in our appreciation of The Cross and see its beauty. Prayer: Lord Jesus, I admit that without You I can do nothing. Today I lay down self-confidence and I put on God-confidence.
