TheLionWithin.Us: How to Lead Your Children

DAY 4 OF 7

Family Calendar

Sometimes it can feel like it would be impossible to get any more on the family calendar.

Depending on the age of your kids, the activities can vary and if you are not careful, things can quickly get out of hand. Haggai 1 warns us that you can run around and around and still be left feeling empty.

You need to decide what are non-negotiable items that your family will stand for. If God is going to come first in your life, then faith-related activities should take precedent. Choosing extracurricular activities such as sports over attending and serving in your church is a mistake that far too many Lions make. While many of these activities can be good, they are tools that Satan uses to draw you away from God.

Set boundaries that you deem critical and then stand by them. This will show your children what is truly important to you as the spiritual leader of the home. While they may not always agree with you, you are establishing structure that will benefit them greatly. Take control of the family calendar before the evil one does.

Question to Consider

  1. How does your calendar reflect God as the priority in your home?
  2. What are items your family can do outside of church that bring you closer to God?
  3. What actions will you commit to today to be the leader God intends you to be?
