DAY 7 OF 14

TASK & LEADING Abraham had the task of finding a wife for his son. He delegated it to his most trusted slave. Though Abraham had delegated the task, he knew God was the authority and He would make it happen. Abraham was following what God had promised, that He was giving the land to him and his descendants. God had revealed what would happen in the future about his descendants being captive in a foreign land. If God was going to take his son back, God would have told him. This shows us how much he trusted God. We also need to realize that this was the son God had promised and this was the son God asked him to sacrifice and had given him back. Many times I have worried about my son, and God had to remind me that He is concerned more about my son than I am. When we partner with God, asking him what's best for our children, He is sure to lead and guide us. I am reminded of how God blessed me; yes, a lot of credit to my parents who instilled good values in me. But there was a time they had to let go. They also made mistakes, but through it all, if I am where I am today, it is only because of God. It's the same hope I have when I make mistakes as a parent. I believe I am accountable for my actions, but my son would turn out right if I could help him trust God the same way I do. Eliezer learned to trust God by seeing Abraham’s faith. In the same way, we need to train our children and those around us to trust God. Eliezer applied what he had learned from Abraham and was sensitive to God’s leading; his mission of finding a bride for Isaac was successful.
