God’s Plan for Marriage

DAY 3 OF 5

Building and Establishing God’s Kingdom

Every gospel era has been dedicated to bringing God’s kingdom to earth.

The term “kingdom marriage” suggests that there is a kingdom. It is considered that if a kingdom exists, a king also exists. Subjects are under their control when there is a ruler. If there are inhabitants in the kingdom, they must adhere to certain regulations to survive. Therefore, when we refer to a king’s marriage, we mean a union that follows the rules of a particular kingdom: the kingdom of God.

The phrase “kingdom of God” alludes to God’s reign or power throughout the Bible. The scriptures also refer to God’s rule as being characterized by his sovereignty. In essence, this implies that God is in complete control of everything and that the goal of His kingdom is to have all and everyone bring glory to Him. The splendor of God is shown via the establishment of His kingdom, and this is the overarching and connecting theme of the Bible. And since marriage is a part of His realm, we might infer that also He exists to exalt God. (Romans 14:17)

But humanity consistently struggles to give God praise. As God intended, creation reveals His glory daily, but we frequently seek attention for ourselves as humans. Instead of following God’s will, we want to do things independently. Many Christians experience marital difficulties because they seek God to fulfill their wishes through their unions rather than for their unions to glorify God. They place greater emphasis on their pleasure, relationships with others, financial security, sexual fulfillment, and the myriad other advantages that marriage gives, but they neglect God’s divinely appointed goal. In other words, rather than attempting to carry out God’s purposes, they desire God to favor their own goals.

However, it is different for marriage in a kingdom. The couple contributes to establishing God’s kingdom and brings glory to Him when they serve as examples of a kingdom marriage to a watching world.
