God’s Plan for Marriage

DAY 2 OF 5

Raising Godly Children

Just providing a family with adequate food, new clothing, and a comfortable place to live typically requires a significant amount of effort and time. However, as the Bible makes clear repeatedly, the parental obligation does not end there. It is crucial to involve kids in the family practice of Bible instruction consistently. In addition to their regular study periods, parents should speak to their children about Jesus and his methods at other times. The youngsters also should receive much-needed training in Jehovah, which concerns the children’s responsibility to obey their parents. Given that the child’s chances of receiving eternal life are at stake (Psalm 127:3-5), this is not a situation that should be taken lightly. The only One who insists that kids obey their parents is God.

Therefore, parents who carefully and repeatedly instill this lesson in their children’s minds and hearts are wise. Sometimes, teaching the children what is correct won’t be enough to achieve this. Godly moral standards are one of the concepts of the Bible that the family should seriously consider. Children must be taught, for instance, that Jehovah detests “everyone who likes a falsehood and carries it through.” Consider the issues that arise at homes, schools, and recreation as a family. Discuss the passages in the Bible that illustrate the kind of conduct that is acceptable to God. The kids will learn how to utilize the Bible within their own lives in this way (Proverbs 22:6, 2 Timothy 3:15-16). This will serve as a protection, as the warning the children have gotten will continue to serve as guidance even when they are not with their parents.

The people you associate with have a big impact on your life. Excellent company positively impacts you, but unhelpful associations ruin good behaviors. The Bible’s history repeatedly demonstrates this point. These associations comprise not only children’s playmates but also those they learn about from books, movies, and television. When each family member acts independently without regard for others, the full pleasure of family life is gone. However, the family grows closer in unity when the family together participates in up-building consideration of issues, when plans are created together, and when everyone works together to carry them out. When you have love in the house, this is not difficult.
