DAY 3 OF 3

God Intervenes at the Right Time

Meanwhile, brothers and sisters, we must be patient and filled with expectation as we wait for the appearing of the Lord. Think about the farmer who has to patiently wait for the earth’s harvest as it ripens because of the early and latter rains. So you also, keep your hopes high and be patient, for the presence of the Lord is drawing closer.
James 5:7-8 (TPT)

Chapter five contrasts the impatience that can come from trusting in our wealth with the patience and strength that comes with trusting in the Lord. He puts this patience in the context of a farmer who has to keep a long-term view of their work, knowing that a lack of patience could result in a ruined crop. When growing up my siblings and I sometimes picked green apples or unripe corn. We soon discovered that they did not have the flavor of a mature crop.

How many times has impatience hindered our relationships or decision-making? Joyce Myers says, when you can’t make a decision, perhaps it’s not the right time to make it!

Prayer

Father, we love Your grace. I ask You for more. I need more patience, more endurance. Give me strength to look to You and to wait for You. I fix my eyes on You, not on what I have, or what I hope for. Come lead me again Lord. I wait for You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
