Freedom From Addiction

DAY 6 OF 14

When Christ went to the cross, we went with Him. Our sinful nature was crucified on that cross with Him, and His Spirit of righteousness now dwells within us. (Romans 6:6)

Our addictions, depression, fear, shame, and guilt were all nailed to the cross with Christ. His presence, His freedom, His joy, His peace, and His righteousness are rightfully ours through our inheritance as children of God. (Ephesians 1:18)

Early on in my journey with Jesus, my addiction to alcohol and drugs left me, but some other addictions remained. Even in my struggles, God never stopped loving me or working in my life. It was as I focused on seeking Jesus through prayer, reading His word daily, worshiping Him, and helping others the best I could, that He took those remaining addictions from me, and they haven’t returned.

The more we make Jesus the focus of our lives, the more He will remove issues from our lives. As He remains the focus in our daily lives we live empowered, and His character and nature will grow in us and flow through us into the world around us.

Our sinful nature was crucified on the cross with Christ. Christ now lives in us and through us.

Prayer Tip and Action Step

Grab your journal, and sit down with God. I encourage you to dream with Him. Write down who He says you are. Write down who you want to become in Him. Write down some dreams you want to see come about in your life with Him. Ask Him to show you how to engage with Him on a daily basis, and ask Him to flood your life with His grace so you can joyfully follow Him into the grand adventure He has for you.
