Through the Bible: Mark

DAY 2 OF 8

Christ Over the Storm

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39 (NIV)

God’s Word reminds us repeatedly that the tongue has the power of life and death. Those who love it will eat its fruit. As we read through Mark 4 and 5, we see that underlining all Jesus’ parables and miracles is the call for us to walk in the activation of faith to believe and speak His Words of Life so we may encounter its ‘fruit.’ Jesus spoke to what seemed impossible. In the midst of the fiercest storms in life or the brokenness around us, Jesus triumphs. He calls us to rest in Him and not to falter. The smallest seed of faith anchored in Christ stills the storms. When we put on the Kingdom glasses of faith, our perception is transformed into a new Kingdom perspective. We see a crisis as an opportunity for the Kingdom of God to come, bringing His goodness, power, and love when we put our trust in Him. Jesus is in our boat. Are we willing to entrust all to Him?

Prayer

Father, we thank You that You are for us and not against us. In Christ, there is Life. May our thoughts, words, and deeds be rooted in You. May we be people of faith and Kingdom bringers of Life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
