Leading Your Child on Mission in God’s KingdomSample

Leading Your Child on Mission in God’s Kingdom

DAY 3 OF 5

Start Together

For many Christians, a “missionary” is a lone, heroic figure who goes out into the unknown to do big, bold things for God without help from anyone.

Maybe that’s true in some cases, but God has called us to live life together, and God calls us to live on mission together. We can support each other, learn from each other, and accomplish more together than we can on our own. Plus, we can have more joy in the process.

Your child will be more engaged and shaped for the long-term if they spend time with you on mission. And you’ll benefit from your child’s unique perspective on living in God’s kingdom. After all, Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these [little children].”

Make plans in cooperation with your child, read a relevant Bible passage with your child, pray together before and after you reach out to bless a neighbor. These are all ways to show your child (and remind yourself) that God has put us together to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
