Day#3. Humility attracts God's attention

When you want to make a decision and want God's help, it is important to have the right attitude. First of all, remember that willful disobedience in any area of your life can harden your heart to the voice of the Holy Spirit. 

It's like someone who has his hands over his ears and asks a passer-by for directions. He won't hear the directions!

Remember also that God knows everything about you, even what is in your heart, in your thoughts. 

A humble and God-dependent heart attracts the Holy Spirit. Here's how to know if your heart is humble to make good decisions: Are you willing to do what God tells you, no matter what the cost? Do you have a plan B if God does not speak to you?

Often what prevents us from hearing God (no matter how) is that we have an idea in mind and no matter what God says, we will do what we’ve already decided. 

Under those conditions, God often remains silent, because our request for direction is a form of contempt for him.

As a pastor, I have often heard people say to me, "But pastor, I prayed for this decision! »

My answer is always the same: "And what did God tell you? »

Praying is not a way to ask God to bless our decision. Prayer for a decision should be a questioning of our motives and desires in light of His word and His will for our lives.

Here's how to illustrate the right attitude for example, when you arrive at a crossroad with several paths in front of you. 

You should say: Lord, I stop and wait for you to speak to me clearly before moving forward. I do not rely on my personal wisdom nor on what I see, I rely on you, Lord!

The more important the decision and its consequences, the more time for pause, reflection and prayer is necessary and important.

Father, I come before you now, I humble myself, I recognize that I need you, your counsel. I believe that you are good and that you have plans for me. Reveal your will to me,  so that I may fulfill it, in the name of Jesus, amen.
