A Christmas Mystery

DAY 11 OF 15

There are lots of things we HAVE to do in our lives. We have to brush our teeth, we have to sleep, and we have to eat. You might even have chores you have to do at your house. You have to make your bed, wash the dishes, walk the dog or take out the garbage.

Then there are things we WANT to do. At Christmas time, we want to open presents, eat 20 Christmas cookies, and watch Christmas cartoons for a whole day.

What about worship? Is that a HAVE or a WANT?

When we think about the mystery of Christmas, that the Father sent the Son Jesus to be our Saviour, this leads us to WANT to worship. When we think about the wise men following a star to bring their offering of worship to Jesus, it makes us WANT to worship Him. When we think about Jesus's life, showing God's eternal love for people, we WANT to worship! When we think about what Jesus did on the cross, dying to take the punishment for our sin, that leads us to WANT to worship Him constantly.

At Jesus's birth, the angels burst into worship! The Saviour was born, and the angels were compelled to worship God. Not long after Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple. A man named Simeon was moved by God's spirit and praised God for the child and blessed him.

Is worship a HAVE or a WANT? We don't HAVE to worship Jesus; we WANT to worship Him. The mystery of Jesus leads us to worship Him.

About this Plan

A Christmas Mystery

Through the mysteries of the messengers, the manger, and the star, we discover that Christmas is not just about gifts. It’s about the birth of Jesus, that God is with us, and Christmas is a time to worship Him.
