Through the Bible: Psalms

DAY 8 OF 24

Look to the Light

Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise You with the lyre, O God, my God. (Psalm 43:3-4 ESV)

This is psalm of lament. The psalmist asked God to deliver him from his enemies and bring him back to Jerusalem, so he can worship God in His house, in His presence.

Life is not easy. We face opposition, battles, testing, uncertainties. As a result we could drown in darkness. But as Christians, we have God who is the light in the darkness. God is our refuge. As written in Psalm 18:30, He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him. In the light, we find guidance and encouragement. Through our prayers and fellowship, we seek His presence in every circumstance.

When we are in His presence, we are glad and we rejoice. Our true joy comes only from God and what He has done for us. We should express our joy through our praise and worship to the Lord, individually or corporately. We were made to enjoy God with overflowing praise. This is the ultimate goal of life.

Prayer

Lord, we pray that You send Your light and Your truth, that they will lead us and bring us into Your presence. Let us rejoice in Your presence and proclaim Your glory for all what You have done for us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
