eKidz Devotional: All About Choices

DAY 1 OF 5

In His Image

God is an all-powerful, all-knowing, supreme being. He created everything — the universe, planets, stars, animals, and you.

He defines what is good and not good. He has authority over all things and is ruler over everything. And He created you in His image.

So does that mean that if everything He created is good, we’ll never mess up or make mistakes? Nope!. But even when you do make mistakes, that doesn’t change who God is. God is love, and He delights in you!

When we make wrong choices, we are still a part of God’s family. He doesn’t abandon us. However, this isn’t a free pass to do whatever we want. Instead, it’s great motivation to do what is right! That includes asking for forgiveness when we do something wrong and showing love and kindness to others.

In the story of The Prodigal Son, a man’s son demands his inheritance (money) from his father, then spends it foolishly. When he realizes his mistake, he turns back to his father to ask for forgiveness. His father welcomes him home with open arms.

He made a mistake, but his father forgave him and showed him love and kindness.

Ask yourself: Can you think of a time when you made a mistake or disappointed someone? How does knowing that God made you in His image help you forgive others and move past your mistakes?

Challenge yourself: Find ways to reflect Jesus through your life — show others love and kindness. When you mess up, ask for forgiveness, and treat others the way God sees them.

Pray: God, thank You for creating me in Your image. Thank You for showing me love and kindness when I mess up. Help me to see others the way You do. In Jesus’ name, amen.

During the first episode of “Super Nova Standoff,” the StarKeepers make a few mistakes — check out this audio clip.
