Walking With Jesus

DAY 10 OF 40

We all have a memory of betrayal. Maybe it was your co-worker eating your food in the fridge when your name was clearly on the styrofoam container. We have all experienced a violation of trust after confiding in someone only to find out they shared it with someone or several others. That hurts! The one thing you don’t want in life is to be associated with the word BETRAYAL. No way!

But if you’re being honest, you have betrayed someone at some point. You have been disloyal, broken someone’s trust or hope or expectations, violated a confidence, and for sure failed to honor a promise or principle. Why? Because you are human. The Bible says clearly, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). It’s a great reminder that we aren’t perfect. However, these are not characteristics we want to be known for.

Unfortunately, someone in the Bible is remembered not for his closeness as a disciple, his careful attention to the finances during Jesus’ ministry, or anything else, but the last several days of his life where he betrayed Jesus. And it wasn’t a pretty picture or outcome for Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.

Today’s Scriptures: Mark 14:18-21, Luke 22:21-23, Matthew 26:20-25, John 13:21-30

Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.

Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

Daily Challenge: God doesn’t ask for perfection, but he does ask us for devotion to him. What do you want to be known for in life? What will be your legacy? Journal your thoughts.
