Walking With Jesus

DAY 13 OF 40

Jesus began His public ministry at the age of 30. As He began His ministry, He was tempted in the desert by the devil for 40 days. He then went to Galilee and His hometown of Nazareth filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. He stood up in the synagogue and read the fulfilment of a passage from Isaiah. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

Fast forward 3 years to the Last Supper. Jesus had changed the world around Him as He taught the good news to Jews and Gentiles, He miraculously healed those who were blind, broken, lost, and hurting physically mentally, and spiritually.

Jesus had lived out his mission, almost! He had one final act of obedience. He was on his way to the cross to pay for humanities sins once and for all as the perfect sacrifice. Jesus brought new meaning to the Passover meal as he established a new covenant - the lamb of God (Jesus) whose blood and broken body would bring salvation to the world once and for all.

Isaiah 53:5 NIV

But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

    and by his wounds we are healed.

May we never forget Jesus’ sacrifice and the standing we have with God because of his perfect sacrifice.

Today’s Scripture: Mark 14:22-26, Luke 22:14-20

Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.

Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

Daily Challenge: Reflect on what the Lord’s Supper means to you. Take a few minutes to thank Jesus for paving the way for you to be in perfect standing with him, “in Christ”.
