SWITCHED MOTIVE Life could be going on as usual and someone could have a routine where they do the same thing, the same way, for the same motive day in and day out. Someone’s personal motive can either be acceptable to others or highly frowned upon by those who know them. Depending on a person’s motive for doing what they do, they might attract the attention of prospective visitors to inquire about their motivation regarding their livelihood, popularity, position, and accessibility. Although a significant amount of time passes and one’s motive appears to be a permanent situation, it is a remarkable outcome when God divinely switches a person’s motive. In scripture we read about a woman, by the name of Rahab who was identified as a prostitute. Her motives regarding her lifestyle could have been attributed to a variety of reasons, but one thing we do know is that people in the town knew about her and were aware of her visitors. It wasn’t a surprise or a shock to see reoccurring activity transpire at Rahab’s door because people were familiar with her motives, but when God Divinely Switched Rahab’s motive from services rendered to salvific revelation, people in the town became very concerned. Rahab’s Divine switch disrupted the norm in the city. People were used to living life their way, outside of God’s commands but when God divinely brought two unique visitors to Rahab’s residence, her motive for self switched for God’s motive and plan for His people. Rahab’s motive went from abandoning her past life of sin, to holding on to the promises of God. Rahab’s switched motive caused her to become a key influential organizer in the conquering of Jericho. When Rahab switched her motives to align with God’s, God switched her position from PROSTITUTE TO PIONEER as she led her family to follow and live according to God. The divine switch in motives can happen at any moment in a person’s life, that is why individuals must be careful judging where a person is today, as a permanent indicator of who they will be forever. The Divine Switch in Rahab’s life blessed her, her family, and her legacy all while God’s protection surrounded her. Don’t think for one moment that if you change your life for Christ and switch your motives for His, that you will not make an impact in the Kingdom of God.
