DAY 5 OF 9

TRUE STRENGTH I remember the first time that I ever tried to lift weights; it didn’t go so well. I went to the gym with my older brother who agreed to coach me, and our first exercise was the bench press. My brother suggested that I warm up by just lifting the metal bar without any weight on it first. Out to prove how strong I was, I insisted that I could lift more than just the bar, so he agreed to add a small amount of weight. As I gripped the metal bar above me, I was feeling confident that this would be easy. But as soon as I lifted the weight in the air, my arms turned into noodles and the bar came crashing into my chest. As I squirmed and flailed underneath the weight, my brother couldn’t stop laughing at me! I felt so helpless; I couldn’t handle it on my own. Have you ever faced something in your life that was too big for you to overcome on your own? Maybe it’s a fear that you have never been able to face, or maybe it was something as difficult as losing someone you care about. Whatever it may be, we all face things in life that we are not able to take-on alone. This is where God’s grace is so good: God uses our weaknesses to show His strength . God uses the things in our life that we can’t overcome alone to show us and those around us that He is working and active. Take a look at what God had to say to Paul when he was wrestling through this same issue, and then ask yourself: what weakness in my life can better reveal God's strength if I let Him take control?
