What Jesus Said About Forgiveness

DAY 8 OF 10

## Forgiving God (2) The question is: How can you overcome your rebellion, anger, and resentment against God? You can do the following things that will break the power of bitterness and resentment towards God. Ask God to reveal himself to you: His character, his ways, his works, his Fatherhood, his sovereignty. You must start with the proper perspective on who God is. Make a study of God. To the extent that you grow in understanding who God is, you will succeed in “forgiving” God and experience a willingness to surrender yourself to his infinite love, compassion, and wisdom. Be totally honest with God and explain your complaints to him. Be as clear as possible - it will help you write it down and ensure you understand your own thoughts and emotions. You will have to ask God to forgive you for your attitude. Although you may argue that you do not understand God and disagree with God, it is still a sin! It is still rebellion. Make a list of things that you want to thank God for. Write down 20, 50, or 100 things. Don’t stop after five or ten things. Think carefully and be honest. Take enough time to do it. It will help to give you a new perspective on your life and God. You will begin to see God and his way of doing things differently. Fight self-pity with all your might. Self-pity is never helpful in finding the truth or understanding what troubles you. It is never helpful to gain the right perspective on your present situation. Fight self-righteousness. Understand your limitedness, your finiteness. Obedience: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any form of self-pity in your heart. Unforgiveness is the perfect soil for self-pity. Where there is self-pity, you will always find resentment and unforgiveness towards God. Deal with it – ask God for forgiveness for your accusations.

About this Plan

What Jesus Said About Forgiveness

Forgiveness is at the core of the gospel. Jesus came to die for our sins - so that we can be forgiven. God the Father expects the same from us: To forgive others. But it is not always easy for us to do it.
