Choose to give, not take.

Can you think of a time when someone did something special for you? Maybe it was a friend bringing you a Starbucks drink, or maybe it was your family throwing you a surprise birthday party. The way you felt didn’t compare to the feeling your friend or family had when seeing your reaction! No matter how big or small, giving is so important. Why? Because serving and giving help us become more like Jesus. 

In fact, choosing to give is one of the best ways we can be different. And Jesus talks a lot about giving up our time to serve others. But He didn’t just talk about it; He modeled it for us. 

So in a world filled with selfies, let’s choose to be selfless. Generosity and serving is what God designed us for, and it’s where we end up finding the most fulfillment. But this totally means more than just buying someone Starbucks. It means being generous with your time and choosing to serve instead of being served. 

You may think you don’t have a lot as a student, but in today’s Scripture, we’ll read a story about a widow who had nothing but gave everything. God honors that kind of giving. For you, this could look like volunteering your time to serve at your church, sitting with the kid who sits alone at lunch every day, helping your parents with chores and not complaining about it, or maybe it means just being patient with your siblings. 

Challenge: Write down one way you can be generous at home or at school this week. Then, go and do it!
