Journaling Through Lent

DAY 8 OF 40

Repentance from Greed

The Bible doesn’t tell us that money is evil. However, it does warn us that the “love of money” is the root of all kinds of evil. Somehow, the world grooms us exactly otherwise! The pursuit of wealth and money is not only celebrated but glorified and respected in the world. While pursuing wealth isn’t wrong in itself, making it our main goal and revolving all our life decisions around it is not having eternity in mind.

It's easy to make luxury and comfort and gain our primary focus in God, and then the Kingdom of God automatically has far lesser significance for us.

If you are struggling with the grip of greed or if love for money and early gain or vanity has consumed you, I urge you to take a critical look at your heart and examine your thoughts. Bring them before God today and repent for not being content. Contentment in Christ leads to joy. Meditate on God's faithfulness as you do this today and find satisfaction in His provision.

Journaling Prompt:

Illustrate the peace found in contentment. Use colors and symbols that represent the richness of a heart satisfied in God.
