How to Exercise a Humble Faith

DAY 4 OF 4

The Mightiest Muscle

Human beings are comprised of spirit, soul, and body. Our body is made up of different organ systems. Through exercise, the muscular system can gain strength and volume, so that our bodies may be transformed functionally and esthetically through constant training.

Each one of us has a great strength that is neither physical nor mental, but spiritual. Our faith is the measure of our spiritual muscle. We are given a supernatural gift—an ability to change the world through service, love, and worship. God grants us His strength, and it matters infinitely more than any other consideration vying for our attention.

Faith is described in the Bible as the assurance of what we hope for and the evidence of the unseen. At different stages in life, we may encounter riches and fame, grief, sorrow, or frustration. Faith transcends all circumstances. It allows us to find meaning and seize opportunities in every situation and every season. It also gives us the ability to be content.

Circumstances are not just problems to be solved or spoils to be enjoyed. They are invitations to put our faith into practice and see God in action, transforming all around us. Our faith has no limits, just as God’s power has no limits. He can change the human heart, calm a storm, or heal our wounds.

Everything we go through invites us to exercise the mightiest of human attributes—faith. Our experiences challenge us to believe, implore us to have the courage to act, and lift us to be able to perceive truly. His Word is the foundation on which we can base our faith. God has promised that His Word will not pass away. We can trust in the promises He has given us, even if all around us falls.

The irony of contentment is that we must let go of it in order to reach it. We need to lean on faith rather than on our own understanding. We must seek God in humility rather than try to control the circumstances for our own ends.

Faith is challenging to handle and difficult to steward, just like any superpower would be, but we have a great Leader who will show us how to use it.

Lord, please, let me grow in faith. Let me see You in everything that is happening in my life and around me. Teach me how to use this mighty power according to Your precious will. May I be known in heaven as one of Your good and faithful servants.
