Pause: A Month of Peace in Five Minutes a Day

DAY 2 OF 30

Proclaim

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

Prompt

It’s tempting to ignore difficult conversations that need to be had or situations that weigh heavily on us. It’s easier to just expect them to go away on their own and call that “hope.”

But that’s not hope. That’s a bad strategy and an invitation for peace-blockers.

Peace comes when we acknowledge something isn’t right, take steps to protect ourselves and our feelings, and let go of whatever blocks peace from reaching us.

Peace is: texting someone you need to forgive.

Peace is: picking up the phone and apologizing when you were wrong.

Peace is: setting a boundary and not allowing certain persons or groups of people to be in your life anymore.

Peace moves heavily into our lives when we remove the peace-blockers. But those peace-blockers won’t magically float away—you have to be proactive in letting them go and guarding the peace God has given you.

Prod

Who or what is blocking your peace? What steps can you take to remove the peace-blocker(s) in your life?

Praise

Listen to “More Than Able” by Elevation Worship

Pray

Jesus, thank you for being my peace. Show me the peace-blockers in my life and give me the courage to let go of them so I can guard your gracious gift of peace. Amen.
