A Little Town With a Big Impact

DAY 6 OF 6

Many people are worried about our world and our country. We should be worried. We live in dark times. As this world gets darker, it means that even the smallest light will shine even brighter.

When it comes to darkness, I have learned this one truth: you cannot fight darkness. The only thing that can dispel darkness is light. As Christians, the Bible tells us that we are to be the light of the world. Those of us who have put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ are reflecting His light.

Christmas is about light. We put lights on our houses, in our yards, and on our trees. Light is an important part of the season because in the Scriptures we read that the Christmas story is a story of light.

Think about the angelic choir singing above the fields of Bethlehem. Luke chapter two tells us that the shepherds were in the fields watching over their flocks at night. There was darkness all around. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. This angel and his message were emanating light, dispelling the darkness on that hillside.

The angel’s message was this: Fear not; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

Suddenly, a heavenly host joined the angel. An angelic choir of angels praising God and singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill towards all men.”

This Christmas, there may not seem like a lot of peace on earth or goodwill, but today, you can rejoice! The Light of the World has come! The Prince of Peace is alive and well, and He will be returning soon to make all things right.

It all started in Bethlehem, the little town with a big impact.
