The Beloved Pastor's WifeSample

The Beloved Pastor's Wife

DAY 7 OF 7

Listening to the Spirit’s Whispers

To balance life’s demands is to allow God to be your first priority, and then He will give you wisdom for whatever you do. You will have learned to practice the ART of Divine Priorities. You will appreciate being a stay-at-home wife with all the details that come with it. You will appreciate the job you have and all the details that surround it. You will appreciate the church family and all the blessings that come along with being a Pastor’s wife.

For a Pastor’s wife and for anyone alive, trying to please others and meet the expectations of people when you are not led or gifted in a particular area, it can become almost like cancer. All those wonderful ideas that people bring to you (and maybe have already enrolled you in) may sound morally good and right, but they are not right for you. Trying to meet their expectations and maybe falling short can become a heavy burden of guilt and make you feel worn out, like you just aren’t good enough.

Finding your rest in the One who is our Enough is where peace is found. Please God, not men and women. Let Him lead you with His perfect wisdom (Colossians 1:9–12). Listen to the quiet whispers of the Spirit calling and learn to discern what is right for you. The Lord knows every detail of your life and will lift the burden of performing away from you. Enjoy being a Pastor’s wife, for it is a privilege and honor from God to you!

To the Pastor’s wife: Choose Jesus every day, and “May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
