Thank God for Problems

DAY 3 OF 6

Divine Presence

Welcome to Day 3 of our devotional journey! Today, we explore a profound truth: problems usher in a unique presence – the presence of God.

Imagine Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego facing a fiery furnace - an ordeal seemingly impossible to overcome. What unfolded was extraordinary. As they traversed the flames, not only were they unharmed, but King Nebuchadnezzar witnessed a fourth figure in the furnace with them, resembling “a son of the gods” (Daniel 3:25).

Here’s the point – problems don’t push God away; they draw Him nearer. His presence becomes more evident amidst life’s fiery trials. God didn’t prevent them from the fire; He was present in the fire.

Consider the incident of Sam and his 10-year-old daughter, lost on a trek as night fell. Sam slipped, fracturing his hand, and in great pain, he cried out to God for help. Suddenly, a stranger appeared on a golf cart out of nowhere, delivering them to their hotel. Upon inquiry, Sam discovered the hotel didn’t offer such a service. It was a direct answer to his prayer.

When Jesus’ disciples faced storms on the sea, Jesus was there with them. His presence didn’t stop the storm but assured them they were not alone in it.

The same principle applies to us. In our trials, God’s presence is an unwavering anchor. Through His presence, we come to truly know Him – not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him intimately.

Joseph’s life exemplifies this truth. Amidst adversity, the recurring phrase is, “The Lord was with Joseph.” Adversity didn’t remove God’s presence; it illuminated it.

So, let’s give thanks for problems because they lead us to experience God’s presence profoundly and tangibly.

Heavenly Father,

I may not know what the future holds, but I have unwavering faith that You are by my side. Whether I find myself in lush green pastures, beside tranquil waters, or even in the darkest valleys, I take comfort in knowing that You are always with me. My safety and solace reside in Your presence, and for that, I am truly grateful.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
