Pride. The Great Sin.Sample

Pride. The Great Sin.

DAY 3 OF 9

Pride separates us from God

In his pride, the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." (Psalm 10:4 NIV)

If we consider ourselves divine, there is no place for the real God in our lives. As C.S. Lewis phrases it in his book 'Mere Christianity': "As long as you are proud, you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.”

You have no eye at all for God, who is infinitely higher than you. But your pride does not change reality. God does exist, and he created you. Therefore, you are accountable to Him. God will judge your actions.

When you stand before His throne after you die, you will have to acknowledge Him as your Creator (see Romans 14:11). But by then, it will be too late to establish a personal relationship with Him!

Be wise and put your pride aside before it’s too late. Acknowledge God as your Creator and King! As one song* puts it:

“Here I am to worship;
Here I am to bow down;
Here I am to say that You're my God.
And You're altogether lovely,
Altogether worthy,
Altogether wonderful to me."

How do you stand before God?

** This song was written by Tim Hughes. Its title is “Here I Am To Worship”.
