Showdown

DAY 8 OF 20

The result of so many of the conflicts in our lives? Anger! In our anger, we make mistakes. In our anger, we choose payback. In our anger, we say and do things we wouldn’t always do. That’s why, if we choose to do what’s best for ourselves and our relationships, we have to choose to deal with our anger. As Paul reminded us here, anger has the potential to produce sin in our life. Left unchecked, that sin can lead us down a path that isn’t God’s best for us. So, we have to do something with it. We have to deal with our anger directly and quickly.

What does that look like? All kinds of things! It could mean asking for forgiveness. It could mean praying for God’s help to let it go. It could mean talking to a trusted friend or professional for support in processing our pain. No matter what it looks like, dealing with our anger will help us avoid the sin that can impact us and our relationships in a negative way. Write this verse down somewhere you’ll see it before you go to sleep each night. When you come across it, stop and say it aloud. Then, ask God to show you what anger you may be holding on to that you need to let go of before you carry it into the next day.
