DAY 5 OF 7

The WAR

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10: 10 (NLT)

This is a war for us to choose between feeding the Spirit by picking up our cross daily or the fork that feeds our flesh. And the choice of picking up our cross leads to life in Jesus and the desires of our flesh being crucified. The only power we have as Christians is found in the Spirit filled life, which means being humble and broken before the Lord, knowing we cannot do anything good on our own-and this is what the cross of Jesus signifies.

Knowing without the power of the cross we would be nothing, and have nothing, but with the cross… watch out! With the cross we have our forgiveness, our salvation through the shedding of the blood of Jesus, we have the resurrection power of Jesus, and we have the filling of the Holy Spirit. But there is an incredible battle for us to live every day knowing the power of the cross. There is a constant battle for us to not pick up our cross and choose the delicacies of what the fork that feeds our flesh has to offer. And our lives are shaped by that daily decision…

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6: 7-8 (NKJV)

When we use the fork of our flesh it leads to feeding something that should never be alive in our lives, and we slowly start to hide that area of our lives by covering it with a “mask.” And that masked area causes our lives to slowly destruct, one fork size bite at a time. Satan’s greatest desire is for you to become numb to the fork size bites with which you’re feeding your flesh with, because he knows when we do that it will nourish and give strength to the sin in our lives.

And satan knows when we feed sin bite by bite it will grow in power and strength, and he knows the outcome of that in a man’s life. We have to remember satan is smarter than we will ever be, he knows the nature of a man and our temptations better than we ever will. He knows God’s unconditional love for humans better than we ever will, and he hates it. It’s the thing satan doesn’t want anyone to ever hear, and he will try to kill anyone that forcefully advances the message of God’s unconditional love. And he isn’t going to kill us by coming into our house at night as a scary goblin.

He is going to use the small, daily fork size bites to kill us. It is crucial that we become aware of this strategic attack on our lives, and put a stop to it by putting our fork down and picking up our cross each morning.
