The Tide-Turning Power of Hope

DAY 14 OF 21

The hope that Job expressed was a resilient one. This resilience enabled him to flex under the pressure and not break. And, given time, it enabled him to bounce back and rebuild his life.

When faced with unimaginable heartbreak, Job saw the great tests of life as a refining process. When gold is mined from the earth, the ore goes through a series of treatments that remove impurities.

Eventually, all the surrounding dirt and unwanted minerals are removed, and all that is left is pure gold. Job could have seen the trauma he faced as hopeless devastation.

But because he had a resilient outlook, he saw the fiery trials as a refining process that would make him into the man he was born to be. Job’s example is whispering a life lesson to us: resilience sees gold whereas others see dirt.

The same pressure that is causing you to bend will ultimately propel you back as you rebound in life. Don’t give up. Bounce back. Embrace the positive.

You are stronger than you could possibly imagine.

Resilience is hope in action. It is the ability to get back up when life knocks us down: a romance between adversity and hope.
