Splendor Of The King

DAY 2 OF 5

A Different Plan

God clearly intends for broken people to find new hope. His plan for people is not just to survive. They are to become, as he declares in Isaiah 61.3, oaks of righteousness.

An oak tree is one of the grandest of all trees, symbolizing protection, strength and endurance. An oak is a picture of stability, because it has strong roots. God wants those who live in poverty, who are broken hearted, and who mourn to be oaks of righteousness. He doesn’t just set us free, but he enables us to flourish.

Can you imagine what it would be like if Christians were only forgiven of their sins, but never had breakthrough with their brokenness, or experienced the freedom of living under grace? It wouldn’t be enough. Jesus didn’t just die for our sins, he rose from death so that we may have life in him. We have been released from bondage, anything less wouldn't be enough. He gives us power even in our brokenness.

Our God is a God who restores all things. That’s who he is.

The hope of Christ to a hurting world leads people into the fullness of Jesus.

Pray:

Jesus, you are my hope. Lord, help me flourish in the places you have uniquely called me. Amen.
