[Uniqueness of Christ] Jesus' Unique Reality

DAY 2 OF 3

He Existed In Time

There is no one like Jesus; nothing and no one greater than the uniqueness, the reality of who Jesus is.

For starters, Jesus Christ is eternal—that He is, He was, and He is to come. However, many people are still surprised by this biblical truth.

Moreover, Jesus is the Creator, meaning He was here BEFORE time. When He became part of our world as Emmanuel ("God with us"), He was also here IN time.

Have you heard the Christmas story? It is a story many of us know by heart—the story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. God could have picked other ways to bring His Son into the world, but He chose a miraculous conception, a humble birth, and a virgin mother.

Eugene Peterson, a North American author and theologian, wrote: "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood."

When we look at the birth of Christ, we see humility, yet often overlook His magnificence. We must remember that Jesus is the God-Man. Jesus came into the world to show us the Father.

In the Bible, the prophet Isaiah describes Jesus' birth and also describes Jesus—He is our Counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. All of this makes Him unique in all of reality.

There is an amazing human side to Jesus and a divine, supernatural side. He is humble, yet He is exalted above all. He is the human, mighty God who came to the world to save the world!

Meditate on this today: Jesus existed before time, and He came to earth born of a virgin mother to show us the Father, to make way for us to be forgiven from our sins and be with Him for all eternity. He is humble, meek, mild, supernatural, miraculous, fully God, and fully human. Human and divine. How do all these different facts about Jesus affect how I think of Him?
