I Can Trust God

DAY 1 OF 3

Read Together

Imagine trying a new food, giving a book report in front of your class, or standing up for someone who is getting bullied. Sometimes, those things can make people feel afraid. Other people may feel afraid of having a nightmare, being alone in the dark, or creepy crawly bugs.

No matter what you’re afraid of, it doesn’t feel very good inside. It can feel pretty bad, actually.

But, have you ever thought of being afraid as a good thing? It can be when it teaches you to trust God!

When you choose to follow Jesus, God is your God. You can trust Him. If you feel afraid, pray to Him. Tell God what you’re afraid of. He is with you, He will help you, and He will give you courage when you need it most.

Talk Together

  • When do you feel afraid?
  • What thoughts and feelings do you have when you’re afraid of something?
  • How is it helpful to trust God when you’re feeling afraid?

Focus Together

Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.

  • Think of something that makes you feel worried or afraid.
  • Hold your hands out in front of you, palms up, and imagine you are holding the thing you thought of.
  • Calmly say, "I can trust God," and pretend to toss the thing away from yourself and up to God.
  • Repeat as often as you like. You can give the same thing to God again or give Him something different.

Study Together

Read today's Bible verse as a family. Talk about how it can help you remember this truth: I can trust God.
