Spirit, Soul & Body Part 1Sample

Spirit, Soul & Body Part 1

DAY 2 OF 5

This Spirit of mine

Reflection

You have a Spirit - it is your innermost being, the deepest depth of you as a person - the very life in you. Pause and consider this before anything else.

Introspection

“…may your whole spirit….be”

Have you ever experienced a moment in which you heard or realized something significant and deep down knew it to be right? No equation or explanation was needed at that moment, you simply knew! It is beyond physical experience, though you could experience a sensation or feeling in your body, and it is beyond consciousness, though you can fathom or imagine it. Jesus says that when Spirit connects with spirit people come alive.

Our spirit component is quite misunderstood, often because it is not visible as the body, and it is more subtle than the will of the mind (consciousness of the soul). This is all the more reason to get to grips with the spirit at the core of our being. If the words Jesus spoke in John 4 tell that God is Spirit and people are invited to worship him in spirit, our responsibility is to give space and time to learn and practice functioning in and from our spirit being (perhaps you will want to read that previous sentence again!). This is not about a mystic or meditative practice, nor is it about singing - this is giving the core of your being the active platform from which your soul and body accurately express life.

How can you do this with a pure and innocent motive? Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ whose death and resurrection has saved us and given us new life, making us alive anew.

Your Next Step

Commit yourself and every action today to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in prayer.

Consider those spaces and opportunities to give expression to your spirit-man that has become alive and new in Jesus Christ.
