Spring Cleaning for Your Heart

DAY 6 OF 6

5 Things to Remember About Spring Cleaning

Our official spring cleaning may be coming to an end, but the real joy is just beginning. Now we get to move forward and live.

It sounds easy in black and white; however, it may feel anything but easy.

Looking deep within is good for us. It’s good to see and reveal what’s been inside under an armor of dust. But it’s also easy to stay stuck there. This navel-gazing introspection can be a black hole because the truth is we’re never done. There’s always going to be more.

God never wants us to stay stuck. No matter how safe it feels.

We know our hearts. We see our stuff, our issues, our broken places. Moving beyond those places is moving beyond comfort zones — and that can feel hard.

God never said it would be easy. He did promise He would be with us.

You may feel hesitant to move forward into this new place, your foot hovering above that new, untrodden path. Maybe you’re excited, eager to bust out of the gate into this new place.

Either way, there are a few things to remember moving forward.

You’re never going to be done.

I know, I know. This feels like a real downer. But God’s working in you until you take your last breath. He won’t give up on you.

You don’t have to do it alone.

God’s there for you. He promises that. But He also puts people in your path to help you move forward in these new places. Sometimes you just need to ask. That means being real and giving people permission to walk with you.

Confession isn’t old school.

Confession is for your good and not for your punishment. It is a lifelong process. The Bible tells us to confess our sins to one another for healing (James 5:16), not condemnation. Making this part of your life will only help you walk further in that healing.

Forgiveness works two ways.

Forgiveness, by design, brings freedom. Learning to forgive others will help you walk in that freedom. Forgiving yourself is another part of that process. When you forgive, you can receive God’s grace in all the fullness He intended. Forgive well and often.

Faith often feels like a leap.

Choosing this process even when you don’t understand or can’t see the outcome is the most beautiful illustration of faith. Sometimes faith means moving and doing something big. Sometimes faith means staying still. Only you and God know what it means for you today. He will show you, and it will always be worth it.

A final prayer together:

Father, thank You for walking with me through this process.

Thank You for helping me open my heart fully to You and for helping me take care of things that had been collecting dust for far too long. I am so grateful for Your presence all along.

Help me walk forward in a new freedom today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God has good things for you, friend. Don’t miss this special video reminder here. It is full of hope, and it is exactly what your heart needs.

Spring Cleaning for Your Heart

There’s one spot forgotten on our spring cleaning checklists, and it happens to be the most important: our hearts. It doesn’t matter how clean your house is if your heart is covered in cobwebs. Take a journey with me a...
