What I Really Want

DAY 5 OF 28

The desire of Jesus’s heart is that your heart experience freedom. Freedom doesn’t mean an absence of struggles, but that we can rest with faith that Jesus has overcome all things that we may face. Jesus invited His closest disciples to freedom, and it is an invitation that He extends to you too.

Growing up, I believed the lie that God was an inconsistent Father who didn’t always follow through on the message of “love” with action. It seemed to be affirmed by the world and my life experiences, but that didn’t make it true. God called me to ministry at fifteen when I felt furthest from worthy. Since then, I’ve had opportunities to write, preach, and lead. I have experienced true freedom. I encountered the truth of who I was in God, but it took faith to keep coming back to prayer, God’s word, and God’s people when the world told me that being perfect would get me farther in life than purpose.

Be encouraged that Jesus has overcome every lie that is keeping you from true freedom. Give Jesus your worries and concerns. Know that freedom is fully available.

Write down ten things that are true about the person that God created you to be—things that will bring freedom whether or not your circumstances change. Ask God who He says that you are, or ask a trusted leader what gifts they see in you. Let this truth of your identity produce faith to experience His freedom.
