Hope Rises

DAY 5 OF 5

We’ve read a lot of stories over the last few days about how God provided hope to people in impossible circumstances. Truthfully, there are so many more examples than we can share in just five days!

Hebrews says this perfectly when it says, “It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets.” That list of names is so packed full of incredible stories. For deeper study, check out a few of their examples in these passages:

Gideon – Judges 7

Barak – Judges 4

Samson – Judges 16:23-31

Jephthah – Judges 11

David – 1 Samuel 17:32-57

Samuel – 1 Samuel 3

No matter what stories we read in the Bible, the theme of hope is constant. That’s because God is constant. Even in moments after God’s people have abandoned, disobeyed, or outright denied Him, He constantly comes through.

At the end of today’s passage it says, “All these people earned a good reputation because their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.” That’s a beautiful passage because it points out for us that despite all we’ve already received from God there is so much more yet to come!

What are some things you are hoping to receive from God? Remember that those are not empty hopes. Ultimately God wants to do great things in and through your life no matter what obstacles you face.

So, if you’re looking for hope today remember:

“…we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28)

When God is involved, God’s purposes are involved. And when God’s purposes are involved there’s always hope!
